2 Arrested, Stolen Corvette Recovered As Police Break Up 6 Car Rallies In 2 Counties

Police broke up 6 car rallies in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties Saturday, arresting 2 people and recovering a stolen Corvette.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Six illegal car rallies held across Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties Saturday night were broken up by law enforcement. Two arrests were made and a stolen Chevy Corvette was recovered at the rallies.

Up to 350 people were found in parking lots trying to shut down intersections across the two counties. Police were called to the following locations to break up the rallies:

  • 11:15 p.m.: 12011 Indian Creek Court, Beltsville, MD
  • 11:30 p.m.: 4392 Nicole Drive, Lanham, MD
  • 11:50 p.m.: 6000 Columbia Park Road, Hyattsville, MD
  • 12:35 a.m.: 2060 Brentwood Road NE, DC
  • 1:01 a.m.: 2384 Brandermill Road, Gambrills, MD
  • 1:25 a.m.: 2300 Craftsman Circle, Hyattsville, MD

Members of the Maryland car rally task force working with the Maryland State Police special operations division and other police agencies arrested Shakari Prue, 21, of Jessup and charged Prue with disorderly conduct, exhibition driving and other traffic-related offenses. Anthony Sandoval, 19 of Parkville also was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, riot, fireworks discharge without a permit and fireworks possession without a permit.

Since June 2024, the Maryland car rally task force has focused on investigating exhibition driving events, known as takeovers. These illegal activities involve blocking public roads to perform dangerous stunts, disrupt traffic, cause property damage and ultimately pose risks to the public, police say.
