3 Men Charged In Fatal Shooting In Riverdale: Police

Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting that left a 19-year-old Landover Hills man dead early Saturday morning.

RIVERDALE, MD — Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting that left a 19-year-old Landover Hills man dead early Saturday morning in Riverdale. (Subscribe to Bowie Patch for realtime news alerts and daily newsletters.)

Carlos Garita-Salazar, 19, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and trauma to the upper body inside of a car in the 6000 block of 67th Pl. at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police announced Tuesday afternoon that they arrested three men in connection with the homicide: Carlos Cardenas-Banegas, 29, of Riverdale; Wilfredo Cardenas-Banegas, 24, of Riverdale and Kevin Soriana-Hernand, 18, of Landover Hills.

All three suspects are charged with the first- and second- degree murder of Garita-Salazar, police said. The motive in this case is under investigation.

The suspects are currently in custody of the Department of Corrections. They are being held on a no-bond status, police said.
