LANHAM, MD -- Three high school students who were seriously injured in a crash outside of Duval High School in Lanham Tuesday morning are expected to survive, police say.

Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski said at an afternoon press conference that the crash happened at 11:52 a.m. when a vehicle carrying five students from Duval were traveling toward the high school on Good Luck Road when they struck a vehicle exiting from an adjacent driveway, and then hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not seriously injured, but three students who were not wearing seatbelts in the back were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, Stawinski said.
