Unofficial Election Results For Prince George's County Executive Race
Aisha Braveboy, Prince George's County State's Attorney, has claimed victory in the special election for the vacant county executive seat.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Aisha Braveboy, Prince George's County State's Attorney, has claimed victory in the special general election for county executive held Tuesday.
Early voting started May 28 for the special election in Prince George's County to fill the county executive and County Council District 5 vacant seats. Early voting ran from May 28 through June 2. Election Day voting happened June 3.
In the race, Democrat Braveboy faced Republican Jonathan White to fulfill the remaining two years of Angela Alsobrooks’ term as county executive. Alsobrooks won a U.S. Senate seat last year, becoming the first Black senator to be elected from Maryland. In County Council District 5, Democrat Shayla D. Adams-Stafford ran for the seat along with Republican Fred Price Jr.

According to unofficial results found on the county Board of Elections website, as of 10:46 p.m. Tuesday, Braveboy had earned more than 89% of the unofficial vote over White. Prince George's Acting County Executive Tara H. Jackson chose not to run for the seat.
At her victory event Tuesday evening, Braveboy made clear she’s focused on schools, combating truancy and growing the tax base by boosting local businesses, reported WTOP.

“Everything is possible for our young people — but we have to put them first,” she said. “The government must take the lead in ensuring that the businesses in Prince George’s County are prioritized. And under my leadership, mark my words, that will happen.”
In the race for the council seat for District 5, Adams-Stafford defeated Price Jr. with 2,583 - or 92% - of the votes in Tuesday’s special election.
