BELTSVILLE, MD -- U.S. money may start getting printed here in Beltsville at some point in the future, according to a report.

WTOP reports that the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, which is responsible for printing U.S. currency and has been doing so for more than a century, could move to a 100-acre site on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Beltsville Agricultural Research Center.

The Bureau is evaluating the site, which would not only print U.S. paper currency but other federal security products.

The Bureau is partnering with the USDA and U.S. Army Corps as it examines the site.

The current headquarters, located at 14th and B streets SW in D.C., opened in 1880. The only other production facility is located in Fort Worth, Texas.
