Child Hit By Car Near Tulip Grove Elementary School

A student at Tulip Grove Elementary School was hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon. The child suffered injuries that weren't life-threatening.

BOWIE, MD — A child was hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon at the intersection of Traymore Lane and Terra Lane.

According to Bowie Police, officers were called around 2:52 p.m. to the intersection. They found a student from Tulip Grove Elementary School who had been hit by a vehicle and was injured. The student's injuries weren't considered life-threatening, but the child was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.

A Facebook user by the name of Jaye Callahan posted on Facebook that the student was her son. She said he was "sore and scraped."

"I’m glad it was not worse than it was," Callahan said.

Several Facebook users said that speed bumps should be installed in the neighborhood to help slow down traffic.

The driver remained at the scene, according to Bowie Police, the incident is being investigated.
