Employee Reports Sexual Assault + Teen Tries To Stab Victim: Hyattsville Police
An employee reported being sexually assaulted by a customer and a teen told police another teen tried to stab him: Hyattsville Police.
HYATTSVILLE, MD — A teen tried to stab another teen, a man reported being assaulted during a car jacking and a customer sexually assaulted an employee in Hyattsville.
Two teens told Hyattsville Police that on Nov. 8 around 1:34 p.m., two other teens they knew approached them while they were shopping and tried to start a fight in the 3500 block of East-West Highway. Later on as the teens were walking to a bus stop, the same teens assaulted them. One suspect pulled out a knife and tried to stab one of the victims, but missed, the teens told police. A passerby startled the suspects who took off. They weren't caught, the police department reported.
A man told police that on Nov. 5 around 5:55 a.m., he was opening his car door when another man wearing dark clothing approached him, armed with a knife. The suspect took the victim's car keys, pushed him away and hopped in the vehicle. The suspect drove off in the victim's vehicle. A license plate reader detected the carjacked vehicle later that day and police officers were sent to the vehicle's location around Oglethorpe Street and 20th Avenue. They saw the suspect get into the stolen vehicle and pursued it, the police department reported. The vehicle was involved in two other accidents before crashing a third time in the 6200 block of 43rd Avenue. The suspect took off on foot and officers chased him, eventually finding the suspect - who was a teen - in the backyard of a home.

An employee of a business located in the 3300 block of East-West Highway told police on Oct. 28 that on Oct. 23 around 5:25 p.m., she was helping a customer with an order when he started touching her rear end repeatedly. The suspect left and returned later on. Police were alerted by a loss prevention specialist at the business that the suspect had returned. He was detained by the officer, according to the police department.
