Firefighters Rescue Dog From Pond In PG County (Photos)

A very cold pup was pulled from a pond after falling through the ice in Upper Marlboro on Wednesday.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- A dog owes its life to Prince George's County firefighters after he fell through the ice while walking on a frozen pond in Upper Marlboro on Wednesday.

Buddy, a 100-pound Doberman Pinscher, is OK and has been returned to his owners. The pond is located in the 11100 block of Mattaponi Road, and Buddy was found about 15 feet from shore, Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady tweeted.

"'Buddy' the Doberman is a reminder that any ice covering any body of water should be considered 'thin ice' and extremely hazardous," Brady wrote. "Never venture out to these areas."
