Friend To Be Charged In Man's Fatal Shooting: Prince George's Police

Police are seeking to amend attempted murder charges filed against a Seat Pleasant man after a shooting victim died 2 days later.

SEAT PLEASANT, MD — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Oct. 1 around 2 p.m. in the 6300 block of Seat Pleasant Drive.

Prince George's police officers were called to the area for a report of a man with gunshot wounds located inside a business. They found 35-year-old Keith Maurice Thomas of Capitol Heights injured. He was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries Oct. 3, the police department reported.

Police officers took 41-year-old Christopher Reid of Seat Pleasant into custody near the scene of the shooting. He initially was charged with attempted first-degree murder and related charges. Investigators are working with the State’s Attorney’s Office to have the charges amended to first- and second-degree murder plus related charges. The preliminary investigation indicated the two men knew each other. The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation, the police department stated.

Reid is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
