HYATTSVILLE, MD — A man has been indicted after police say he stabbed a stranger and threatened another on a metro bus last summer.

Ankintola Olowofoyeku, 43, of Hyattsville was indicted in Superior Court on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault with significant bodily injury while armed and two counts of felony threats.

According to evidence, on July 21, 2024, Olowofoyeku was on a 70 route bus in the vicinity of Georgia Avenue NW and Jefferson Street NW when he began screaming at two strangers and demanding that they get off the bus. Olowofoyeku threatened to kill the two victims while holding a knife behind his back and forcing the victims to retreat into a corner of the bus. Olowofoyeku hit one of the victims and began struggling with that person. During the struggle, Olowofoyeku stabbed one of the victims in his leg, arm and hand. Eventually, Olowofoyeku was forced off the bus, where he continued to brandish the knife and threaten to kill people. Olowofoyeku then ran from the area but wasn't arrested until Feb. 7, officials said.
