1 Person Shot, Lockdown Lifted At Nearby High School
A Prince George's County high school went into lockdown early Friday afternoon due to a shooting in the area. It's since been lifted.
BELTSVILLE, MD — High Point High School went into lockdown early Friday afternoon due to a shooting that happened in the area, according to the Prince George's County Public School System.
The Prince George's Police Department tweeted that one victim was injured in the shooting that happened in the 3400 block of Powder Mill Road. The school was locked down out of "an abundance of caution," the police department stated.
"The shooting did not occur on school grounds. Search is underway for the suspect," PGPD tweeted.

The lockdown eventually was lifted and the school resumed its regular dismissal schedule, school officials stated.
The Prince George's Police Department tweeted that as of 3:50 p.m., the area of Powder Mill Road and Cherry Hill Road by High Point High School had reopened.
