Accokeek Man Charged In Acquaintance's Fatal Shooting: Prince George's Police

An Accokeek man has been charged in connection to an acquaintance's fatal shooting in a parking lot, police stated.

CLINTON, MD — A 53-year-old Accokeek man has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Clinton earlier this month.

On May 12 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 9800 block of Piscataway Road for a report of a shooting. They located 30-year-old Anthony Traevon Dawson of Clinton outside in a parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Thorne and the suspect, 53-year-old Chelley Thorne of Accokeek, knew each other. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Thorne has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
