MOUNT RAINIER, MD — Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month in Mount Rainier.

Police were called to a local hospital at around 6:05 p.m. on July 10 for a walk-in shooting victim they identified as 20-year-old Hosheyah Smith, who died at the hospital, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police have arrested 23-year-old Nathaniel Thompson Jr. on charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter, and related charges. He is being held without bond.

Police believe Thompson shot Smith during a drug deal that took place at the intersection of 37th and Shepherd streets, the report states.
