Martin Luther King Day 2019 In PG County: What's Open, Closed

Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 21 is a federal holiday. Here's what will be open and what will be closed in our area on that day.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. forever shaped the American landscape as the most prominent leader of the civil rights movement. The memory of King, who was killed by an assassin's bullet in 1968, is honored on Monday, Jan. 21 (he was born Jan. 15) with a federal holiday.

But just what is open and what is closed in our area on MLK Day? Here's a quick breakdown to help you out, via Prince George's County:

*Facility only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday*

TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T), will operate a regular schedule on Monday, January 21, 2019, except Route 51 service to the Equestrian Center/Courthouse. Regular operations of Route 51 will resume on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. The County’s Call-A-Bus service, including dialysis and Senior nutrition, will not operate on Monday, January 21, 2019. Regular operations of the Call-A-Bus services will resume on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

In addition, Prince George’s CountyClick 3-1-1 will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019, and will return to regular operations on Tuesday, January 22, 2019; 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. However, residents can still submit service/issue requests online at www.countyclick311.com/.
