Police Shoot Armed Man In Prince George's County (UPDATES)

UPDATED: A man is in critical condition after he was shot by a Bladensburg Police officer Sunday night.

(Updated at 6:58 p.m. Monday): BLADENSBURG, MD — A Washington, D.C. man is in critical condition after he was shot by a Bladensburg police officer Sunday night, police said.

Police received a call at about 9:05 p.m. for the report of a man with a weapon in the 5200 block of Newton St. Arriving officers located the man with a gun outside of a condo, police said.

After a foot pursuit, a Bladensburg officer shot the man—identified by police Monday night as Davon Hight, 29, of Southeast D.C. Officers shot Hight in his lower body and transported him to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police charged Hight with: possession with intent to distribute PCP, handgun on a person and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

The officer-involved shooting is currently under investigation by the Bladensburg Police Department, police said.
