Prince George's County Church Donates To Haiti Earthquake Victims

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Members of Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire, the largest Haitian church organization in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area, are gathering donations for their home country as Haiti reels from another catastrophic earthquake.

On Saturday, Haiti experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, resulting in at least 1,419 deaths, over 6,900 people injured and an unknown number of people still missing, according to the BBC.

As tens of thousands of Haitians are now homeless because of the earthquake, Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire is collecting donations to assist their home country in this time of need.

Located at 10002 Riggs Road, the church is collecting food, clothing, shoes, money, water and more. The church also started a GoFundMe page for guests to donate money toward the earthquake victims.

Eglise Baptiste du Calvaire is partnering with the Mission Evangélique Baptiste du Sud d’Haïti, the largest religious organization in Haiti and headquartered in the South, Grand Anse and Nippes departments, to ensure the donations go directly to the victims.
