Prince George's Schools Change Wednesday Schedule Because Of Snow

Prince George's County Public schools and offices have changed hours for Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the aftermath of the snowstorm.

BOWIE, MD — Prince George's County Public schools and offices will open two hours late on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the aftermath of the snowstorm. District officials will re-evaluate conditions and the schedule at 6:30 a.m.

Emergency personnel must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave. All after school activities and athletics are canceled.

  • There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
  • There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center, half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
  • Any other school program requiring transportation prior to noon will not have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center,JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt)
  • All field trips will be cancelled.
  • Food Services will offer breakfast.

Winter weather returned to the region Monday into Tuesday with many cities covered in 4 to 5 inches of snow by Tuesday morning, and cold will soon follow the storm into the state. Low temperatures will drop into the low teens the next two nights, the National Weather Service said.
