Shooting Kills Man At Prince George's County Apartment Complex

NEW CARROLLTON, MD — A New Carrollton man was shot dead outside of an apartment complex Monday evening, Prince George's County Police said.

The shooting occurred at about 7:45 p.m. at the Hilltop Apartments, located in the 5300 block of 85th Ave. in New Carrollton.

Arriving officers found the victim outside suffering a gunshot wound to the body. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. The victim is identified as Desmond Burns, 24, of 85th Avenue.

Detectives are currently working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive in this case, police said.
