Snow Impacts Prince George's Schools Schedule For Dec. 15

Prince George's County Public Schools officials have altered the school schedule for Monday, Dec. 15, due to a weekend snowstorm.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Due to the weather and concerning road conditions, Prince George's County Public Schools and offices will open two hours late Monday, Dec. 15, officials stated Sunday afternoon.

The PGCPS weather team will reassess conditions at 5:30 a.m. and announce any additional schedule changes by 6:30 a.m.

A Code Orange was issued by school officials, which also means emergency personnel must report to work on time. There won't be any work-study transportation and any school program requiring transportation before noon will not have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt).

Vendor-managed care programs will open at 9 a.m. There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center care, half-day special education programs or half-day pre-kindergarten.

All field trips will be cancelled. Food Services will offer breakfast.

The National Weather Service shared the following snowfall amounts in Prince George's County:

  • Bowie 1.8"
  • Upper Marlboro 1.5"
  • Laurel 0.8"
