State Trooper Hit By Drunk Driver In Prince George's County
A Prince George's County man was arrested for DUI after he allegedly struck the back of a State Trooper's patrol car on the Capital Beltway.

FORESTVILLE, MD — A Maryland State Trooper is in the hospital after he was hit by a drunk driver on the Capital Beltway in Forestville early Saturday morning, police said.
Police arrested Maurice Gresham, 51, of Landham for allegedly striking State Trooper Angel Ortiz on the outer loop of the Capital Beltway at Allentown Road, police said. The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Preliminary investigation reveals Ortiz was on duty at the time of the accident. He was parked in his marked Ford Explorer patrol vehicle with his emergency lights activated, behind a motorist who was changing a flat tire on a disabled vehicle in the slow lane of the outer loop, police said.

Gresham allegedly struck the back of Ortiz's vehicle in his Audi A-5, police said. Ortiz was transported by ambulance to the hospital, police said. There were no other reported injuries.
Police charged Gresham with DUI and arrested him without incident on the scene. He was transported to Forestville Barrack where he is currently being processed, police said.

Ortiz is a seven-year veteran of the Maryland State Police and is assigned to the Forestville Barrack.
