UMD Football Player Charged In Drunken Driving Incident: Report
A University of Maryland football player has been charged with a DUI after crashing his vehicle into a concrete wall outside a pub.
COLLEGE PARK, MD — A redshirt freshman defensive lineman was arrested Wednesday and charged with driving under the influence, according to the student-run radio station at the University of Maryland in College Park WMUC.
A transfer from Florida State, Daniel "DD" Lee Holmes faces charges including driving under the influence. Police report that he crashed a green Dodge Charger into a concrete wall outside Looney's Pub in College Park. Court records show that the incident happened around 2:32 a.m. Wednesday.
Holmes was processed by the University of Maryland Police Department and released, according to reports. Holmes wasn't injured, according to police.

A Tallahassee, Florida, native, Holmes has played in all four games of the season so far with three tackles. He attended high school at Gonzaga College High School, an all-boys school, in Washington, D.C.
“We are aware of an incident involving Daniel Holmes and are handling it internally,” a Maryland Athletics spokesperson said in a statement to WMUC Sports.
