Victim Identified In Riverdale Homicide: Police

RIVERDALE, MD — Police announced the name of the victim killed in Saturday morning's fatal shooting in Riverdale. The deceased has been identified as Carlos Garita Salazar, 19, of Coopers Lane in Riverdale, police said Monday afternoon.(Subscribe to Bowie Patch for realtime news alerts and daily newsletters.)

Police responded to the report of a shooting in the 6000 block of 67th Pl. at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Responding officers discovered Salazar inside of a car suffering from gunshot wounds and trauma to the upper body, police said.

Salazar was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police do not believe this was a random crime.
