FORT WASHINGTON, MD -- A water main ruptured along Indian Head Highway over the weekend, sending a geyser of water straight onto the northbound lanes -- and it was all captured on video (embedded below).

Prince George's County Police tweeted at 6:37 p.m. on Sunday that northbound Indian Head Highway (Route 210) between East Swan Creek Road and Old Fort Road had been closed due to a water main break.

ABC 7 posted video taken by a driver that shows the water main break gushing onto the road.

The break prompted WSSC to issue a Boil Water Advisory for customers in the southern portion of the county. The BWA affects around 23,000 customers.

"The BWA is necessary following the water main break, which caused a small portion of the WSSC water system to lose pressure," WSSC said in a statement. "When this occurs, there is an increased risk of contamination to the water distribution system. WSSC recommends if you live in the affected area, you should boil your water per the guidelines stated above."
