Upper Marlboro Woman Arrested In Road Rage Incident Involving Vehicle With Child Inside

An Upper Marlboro woman has been arrested after police she pointed a gun at a vehicle with a child inside during a road rage incident.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Maryland State Police have arrested a woman who they say pointed a gun at a driver during a road rage incident in Prince George’s County late last week.

Brittany Erin Cousar, 37, of Upper Marlboro, was arrested at her home in Prince George’s County Sept. 12. She has been charged with two counts of first-degree felony assault, along with misdemeanor assault and firearm offenses. Cousar was granted private home detention after being held without bond.

A preliminary investigation indicates that on Sept. 11, Maryland State Police troopers from the Forestville Barrack responded to a report of a road rage involving a white BMW SUV. The driver, later identified as Cousar, supposedly pointed a firearm at another driver near Route 5 and Surratts Road. The driver's child was in the vehicle at the time of the incident, according to Maryland State Police.

Investigators found the suspected vehicle later that day at Cousar’s home and seized two loaded handguns from that vehicle. During a police interview, Cousar attempted to destroy evidence by smashing her cell phone. She was arrested and taken to the Forestville Barrack for processing.
