Yana The Dog Stolen At Gunpoint In Chillum Returned To Owner

CHILLUM, MD — A dog named Yana was forcible taken from her owner during an armed robbery that happened Aug. 31 around 7 a.m. in the 4800 block of Avondale Overlook Drive.

According to Prince George's Police, the victim wasn't injured. The dog was missing for a couple of days but was reunited with her owner.

The theft of dogs from their owners isn't uncommon. Two dogs were stolen at gunpoint from their owner June 30 around 4:30 p.m. in the 10100 block of Legacy Court in Clinton. This armed robbery happened just a day after a French bulldog was taken at gunpoint in Southeast D.C.

A Boston terrier named Gianni who was sitting inside his family's 2015 Land Rover Evoque when it was stolen March 23, 2023, was reunited with his humans. Canela, a pregnant dachshund stolen from the front porch of a District Heights home on March 15, 2023, was found and reunited with her family, according to police.

Four months after a French bulldog named Bruno was stolen at gunpoint in Washington, D.C., in August 2022, his owner, Jamaica Harvey, was notified by Prince George's County police that her beloved little buddy had been found dead.
