AACC Takes Flak for Billboard: The Bible—A Laugh Riot

A brief blurb about an upcoming Biblical play raised some eyebrows at the Arnold AACC campus.

Anne Arundel Community College commuters may have noticed a grabbing display on the electronic marquee this week—"Theatre at AACC,The Bible: A Laugh Riot!"

The message was promoting a comedy being performed by the community college's theater group. According to AACC's website, the play touches on such questions as "Did Adam and Eve have navels?" and "Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston?"

The community college's Facebook page asked readers if they were offended by the promotion, and received a mixed response. Some people said they laughed, others said it solidified their resolve not to patronize the play.

Regardless of the intent, the brief message likely got the three-person play far more attention than most performances of its size.

The Capital spoke with the college's marketing director Dan Baum, who said the full title of the play, "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged), was simply too long to fit on the billboard.
