• Obedient husband brings wife a Powerball ticket worth $50,000 (upi.com) — A Burtonsville woman’s spur-of-the-moment decision to send her husband out for Powerball tickets just paid off with a $50,000 prize. The couple learned one of their quick-pick lines matched four white balls, and they plan to use part of the winnings for a family vacation with their grandchildren.
   

• New Law Requires 2-Weeks Notice Before Eviction (mymcmedia.org) — Montgomery County has just strengthened protections for renters by requiring landlords to give at least 14 days’ notice before an eviction, replacing the previous six-day minimum. Burtonsville resident Harold Hill, who has experienced eviction himself, says he knows many local families who could benefit from the extra time and support this change is meant to provide.
