A New Mural is Planned for Catonsville

Community members, artist and businesses band together to support the project.

The long, empty wall that is the back of the building facing Bloomsbury Avenue will be empty no more come May.

Catonsville residents and artists have created a grand vision for the mural on the 12-by-100 foot space. The wall is next to the back parking lot for , at the intersection of Frederick Road and Bloomsbury Avenue.

The mural was designed by a team of residents that includes the artistic talents of Catonsville mural artist Edward Williams. The mural will have three different themes of past, present and future.

To help paint the mural, Williams will coordinate a team of volunteers which will include students from 's . The group will use the House of Time's parking lot to work on the mural. The mural will take roughly a month to complete.

Williams, who has painted murals across Maryland, said this is the first mural he will get to do in Catonsville.

"I feel like I'm finally getting to bring my artwork home," he said.

So far, organizers have raised half of the $6,000 needed to fund the project, coordinator Meg Tipper said. Donations have come from We Love Catonsville, Whalen Properties, the Catonsville Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Catonsville.

Donations are still needed for the mural, which can be made on the website for the .
