Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

  1. There is a push to add four more Baltimore County Council seats and districts by the next ballot in 2026. Those in favor of the increase want more fair representation. Linda Dorsey-Walker said, "What we're trying to do is make everyone feel like they have equal
access to their county councilperson by shrinking the size of the districts." A Catonsville representative, Councilman Tom Quirk of D-District 1, said he "would not be opposed to adding two more members to the council given the population increases." (WBAL TV Baltimore)
  2. A Jul. 12 warning was being circulated on social media claiming that a woman impersonating a nurse kidnapped an infant from a hospital in Catonsville and other towns. Facebook flagged the Catonsville post as part of its efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. The Baltimore County Police Department did not immediately respond about the Catonsville post, however, it appears that these warnings are hoaxes. The Dodge City Police Department responded to a similar post about Dodge City and said they aren't credible. (PolitiFact)
