Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration, children between the ages of five and 11 are now eligible to get the COVID-19 booster shot. Baltimore County Deputy Health Official Della Leister said Maryland should get vials and start administering them in the next couple days. The shots will be free at all of Maryland's public health clinics. (WYPR Baltimore)
  2. The Baltimore County School District is taking action against the recent increase in school violence. Superintendent Darryl Williams said students who are violent face "serious consequences" and there has been misinformation about BCSD not holding students accountable. State law prohibits telling parents the consequences, but Williams said some students have been suspended from school and from their buses. (WMAR 2 News)
  3. Looking for some fall fun? Tomorrow, Oct. 16, is the "Plump Pumpkin" event at Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum in Catonsville. Participants can paint a pumpkin and enjoy some pumpkin games. (Catonsville Patch)
