Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:
- Incumbent Scott Shellenberger has a larger lead over challenger Robbie Leonard for the Democratic primary for Baltimore County State's Attorney. There are about 3,000 mail-in ballots left to count today, Jul. 29, according to county elections board attorney Andrew Bailey. (WYPR)
- Many are practicing "Plastic Free July," an initiative that encourages people to reduce their plastic usage. Part of the initiative is to share companies like Refill Goodness, a company that offers low-waste alternatives to home and bath products. Refill Goodness has customers bring in empty containers, or purchase a new glass container, to refill with soap, detergent, and more. Catonsville residents can find Refill Goodness products at the Catonsville farmer's market. (Bay Weekly)
- All-American defender Marge Donovan, a Catonsville native, has joined the University of Maryland women's lacrosse team for the 2023 season. University of Maryland women's lacrosse head coach Cathy Reese said, "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Marge into our program for 2023. She is an incredible defender that we have admired for years while watching and facing her at Princeton. We know she will fit in seamlessly on our defense and help us accomplish big things next season." (UM Terps)
