- Due to 'bad behavior' at previous events, the Baltimore County Public Schools made changes to its policies for athletic events. There will be additional staff at sporting events, spectators who leave an event will not be allowed back in, and there will be no loitering on school grounds after an event. - A new study at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has discovered many viruses use information from their environment to "decide" when to multiply. Author Ivan Erill, a biologist at UMBC, said phages are "using cellular intel to make decisions." This discovery could open up new therapeutic pathways. Erill continued, "If you are developing an antiviral drug, and you know the virus is listening in on a particular signal, then maybe you can fool the virus." (Earth.com)
