Catonsvile Parent Volunteers Recognized by School System

Several Catonsville parents were honored by Baltimore County Public Schools for volunteering more than 1,000 hours at a school.

Six volunteers received certificates for contributing 2,500 hours of their time, while one man reached the impressive 5,000-hour mark. The event was held at the in Timonium.

They were: Nicole King, Diana Kaplan and Krista Collins at and Shirley Gaver at . Woodbridge PTA President Phyllis King was also honored for volunteering more than 2,500 hours.

Woodbridge Principal Jason Barnett said the women account for a huge part of the volunteer efforts at the school.

"Our teachers really appreciate it," he said.

Both Phyllis King and Nicole King are on the PTA and are involved in just about every event the school organizes.

Kaplan helps out with extra copying and gathering information to send home in the students' folders every week, while Collins volunteers regularly for her daughter's class in kindergatern. She also helps out in other kindergarten classes.
