Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Kidsave is a nonprofit program that helps older orphans find families. A Catonsville family, Valerie and Joe Yingling, are hosting 14-year-old Walker from Colombia in hopes of finding him a forever home. (WBAL TV Baltimore)
  2. According to the Maryland Department of Agriculture, July is a pivotal month for the spotted lanternflies because black nymphs turn red and adults begin to appear. If Marylanders can exterminate them before they reach the egg-laying stage in September, it would help the environment. The quarantine order, which restricts moving materials that might contain the spotted lanternfly, has expanded to include Baltimore County this year. The secretary of agriculture asks residents to check backpacks, bicycles, trash cans, lumber, and other material before moving them. (Maryland Patch)
  3. The free Mini Mardi Gras with Rufus Roundtree & Da Bmore Brass Factory at Catonsville's Lurman Woodland Theatre has been rescheduled for Jul. 30. View the link to RSVP. (Neon Ox)
