You're Invited: Catonsville Y to Cut Ribbon on Facilities

The first phase of the Y's expansion is complete.

Catonsville residents are invited to the on Saturday night for a ribbon cutting and wine tasting to celebrate the newly expanded facility on South Rolling Road.

Renovations include a salt water filtration system for the pool, renovated locker rooms, a new childcare area and a 4,300-square foot fitness room.

The exterior has been painted and more windows have been added to both the pool room and the fitness room, according to Y staff.

The renovations are the first phase of a redevelopment of the Y property. The Y of Central Maryland has begun the process of for an independent living facility operated by South Rolling Road neighbor .

Brightview Senior Living is a division of the private development company, the Shelter Group. The organization currently has another assisted living building at 912 South Rolling Road, just south of the Catonsville Y.

On Saturday night, elected officials and Y staff will gather for a ribbon cutting at 6:30 p.m., followed by a food and wine tasting from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $40 for Y members, and $50 for non-members when purchased in advance and $60 at the door. Tickets are available online.

Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for children participating in sports programs and summer camps in Baltimore County.
