  1. Due to excessive heat and humidity, cooling centers are open in the Baltimore County area. Northwest Hospital's emergency department chair, Dr. Angela Watkins, said, "We are seeing some who have presented with symptoms mainly of heat exhaustion, which are dizziness lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting excessive sweating, generalized weakness and we've had some people pass out as a result of the heat." Cooling centers in the Catonsville area include the Catonsville Baltimore County Public Library branch at 1100 Frederick Road and the Catonsville Senior Center at 501 N. Rolling Road. 2. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department for UMBC's compliance with federal Title IX rules barring gender discrimination and response to sexual misconduct. The investigation has been ongoing since November 2020, according to University officials. After a demand by students, the UMBC in Catonsville responded to the sexual misconduct allegations by requiring training on sexual misconduct prevention and response. (Baltimore Sun)
  3. On Aug. 3, the former Mount Saint Joseph wrestling coach, 74-year-old Neil Adleberg, had his trial date set for January and was released from home detention. Adleberg is accused of sexual abuse of a minor and second-degree rape. The victim is said to not be a Mount Saint Joseph student. (Baltimore Sun)

Correction: And earlier Patch publication stated the victim was a Mouth Saint Joseph student. However, the victim is allegedly not (nor ever was) a student. This article has been updated to reflect that information.
