Erickson Senior Living Communities Compete in 18th Annual Softball Tournament

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Charlestown Sluggers earned the title of “champions” for the third year in a row in the Erickson Senior Living annual softball tournament. Other participating communities, including Oak Crest located in Parkville, MD and Riderwood in Beltsville, MD, competed against each other in a fun, friendly competition.

Led by coaches Bob Nitsch and Rick Jones, who coached the Sluggers for the second year in a row, the team prepared for the championship series, where their hard work and energy won the first-place trophy.

Players and spectators from Erickson communities, Charlestown, Oak Crest, and Riderwood enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, rekindling friendly rivalries, social interactions, and enjoying America’s favorite pastime.

The Sluggers roster includes Anne Burgess, Steve Davis, Bob Jacobs, Don Kaptain, Joe Loveland, Lou Cuneo, Joy Janssen, Jim Mallon, Patty Ormiston, Ron DeAbreu, Bob Larson, Dan Matthews, Bill Ruff, Bob Nitsch, Rick Jones, Dave Kramer (first base coach), Ron Dempsey (third base coach), and Jack Flood (umpire).
