Five Things You Need to Know for Halloween

Trick or treating? Halloween safety? We've got you covered.

Halloween is just around the corner and at Patch, we've worked to get you all the information you need to have a happy and safe Halloween.

Here is what we've got so far.

1. Trick or treating. Many neighborhood associations in Catonsville have told Patch they are holding trick or treating Monday. Neighborhoods include Old Catonsville, Heritage, Paradise, Oakcrest and Academy Heights. Is your neighborhood doing something different? Tell us in the comments below.

2. Deals on candy and costumes. Looking for a last-minute costume or deal on candy? Check out this week's . Also, Halloween costumes for children at are 50 percent off this week.

3. Halloween safety. Baltimore County Police are offering safety tips for the evening, which include a reminder for adults to accompany young children, staying outside when accepting candy and not accepting anything from cars.

4. Safety vests. The State Highway Administration is offering safety vests for trick-or-treaters on Halloween. The vests will be available in most counties at many SHA Maintenance facilities each day Thursday, October 27, Friday, October 28 and Monday, October 31 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Reflective vests will be issued on a first come, first served basis and must be returned by Friday, November 4.
