Jury Convicts Catonsville Man in 2009 Convenience Store Killing

Convicted murderer Braderick Greene, 37, lived in Catonsville.

A Baltimore County jury has convicted 37-year-old Braderick Greene of Catonsville in the murder of a convenience store customer and the attempted murder of an employee.

According to the Baltimore County State's Attorney's office, Greene entered the /Suvidha Bazzar on Nov. 17, 2009 with a .45-caliber handgun and a bandana covering his face. Sudhir Shah, the owner of the convenience store, was behind the counter. Brian Meise was the lone customer in the store.

Police said Greene shot and killed Meise after he walked into the store and then shot Shah in the head. Shah, who survived, called 911 after Greene left the store.

Shah later re-opened the convenience store, and it remains open today, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Greene was caught by Baltimore city police several days later after fleeing from a traffic stop in Baltimore where he was the passenger. In that incident, Greene  shot at police when he got out of the car, police said.

Police chased Greene and shot him. He was arrested and taken to an area hospital. The gun later was matched to the Catonsville robbery, according to the press release.

Greene had previously been convicted on 11 counts of attempted murder in the city shooting and is serving 11 life sentences, according to the release.

Greene will be sentenced Nov. 9 at the Baltimore County courthouse in Towson. Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence.
