- Due to the rising number of monkeypox cases in Maryland, Gov. Larry Hogan and the Maryland Department of Health to outline the state's response to the outbreak. On Aug. 2, Gov. Hogan said, "While vaccine supply from the federal government is severely limited at this time, anyone who believes that they may need testing or treatment should contact their healthcare provider or local health department immediately." - On Aug. 1, legislation was introduced that would give raises to the Baltimore County executive, the top county administrative officer, and members of the County Council. The legislation would also remove the cap on council members' pensions. Under the proposals, officials would see their pay increase about 10 percent. (Baltimore Sun)
- Residents and partners at 17 Erickson Senior Living communities raised $7.7 million in scholarships for student employees. Catonsville-based Erickson is now helping more than 2,000 current or former student employees with the Student Scholarship Fund. (Maryland Daily Record)
