Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Over the weekend, a new three-digit suicide prevention hotline went into effect in states across the country, including Maryland. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number was changed to 988 on Saturday, Jul. 16, allowing people to call or text the number if they are experiencing a mental health crisis. According to the CDC, 585 Maryland residents died by suicide in 2020. (Maryland Patch)
  2. There are two more weeks left of the Baltimore County Arts Guild's Celtic Music Class and Session. Each Tuesday in July, musicians have been meeting at The Clubhouse in Catonsville to explore new tunes, techniques, and ideas. The next session will be this Tuesday, Jul. 19. The beginner class and "slow session" begins weekly at 6:30 p.m., with the intermediate/advanced class running at 7:30 p.m. (Baltimore County Arts Guild)
  3. The Baltimore County Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a man found in Cockeysville, about 20 minutes from Catonsville. According to the department, the man is non-verbal and appears to be in his early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 410-887-1820. (Baltimore County Police Department)
