When members of Catonsville High School's Comet Booster Club opened a shop on Frederick Road in October to sell spirit wear, they never imagined it would be so popular.
The space, between Atwater's and You Scream Ice Cream, was donated first by store owner Larry Zwick of and then building owner Kirby Spencer. But as Patch reported earlier this week, the space will be leased by in the fall.
Beth Reymann, president of the booster club, said the shop has exceeded expectations but organizers knew that because the space was donated, their time was limited.

The club's goal wasn't as much about fund-raising as it was about building hometown pride.
"We felt like we've really accomplished our goal of promoting Catonsville and Comet spirit," she said.

Prior to having the space on Frederick Road, the club would bring out items from a storage closet at the high school for sale. Booster members still plan to sell items on the school website and at events.
Some of the most popular items were pajama pants, windbreakers and Under Armour apparel. A total of 40 volunteers helped staff the store, which was open mostly on evenings and weekends.
Reymann said if there were another donated space available the group would consider opening a storefront again.
Shop Catonsville will be open tonight from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
