Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Storm, a dog who was rescued from the Korean dog meat trade, was found in Catonsville after being on the run for 45 days. Save Korean Dogs, a small group from South Korea's Seoul area that rescues dogs from the dog meat trade, rescued and brought Storm to the United States. LARG (Lost Animal Rescue Group) posted, "It took a community to get Storm safe, from the Korean rescue, the USA rescue, foster, volunteers and a caring neighborhood where Storm settled." (WMAR 2 News)
  2. Baltimore County is one of the "50 most at-risk real estate markets in the U.S.," according to ATTOM, a curator of real estate data across the United States. The 50 areas most vulnerable to a market decline were based on home affordability, underwater mortgages, foreclosures, and unemployment patterns in the first quarter of 2022. (Maryland Patch)
  3. On Jul. 5, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan ordered authorities to "immediately suspend utilization of the 'good and substantial reason' standard when reviewing applications for wear and carry permits." Hogan said the language was similar to the New York law that limited people from carrying concealed handguns, which the U.S. Supreme Court overturned on Jun. 23. Some fear this could cause firearms to flood the streets of urban areas. (Maryland Patch)
