Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

  1. The Maryland Department of Agriculture has expanded the spotted lanternfly quarantine order to Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and other counties nearby. The quarantine order restricts moving materials that might contain the spotted lanternfly in any of its life stages. Residents are asked to check backpacks, bicycles, trash cans, lumber, and other material before moving them, as well as to report any spotted lanternfly sightings. Secretary Joe Bartenfelder said, "While they are not known to pose any serious human or animal health concern, the spotted lanternfly is a destructive invasive species that has negatively impacted agriculture operations throughout the mid-Atlantic region." (Maryland Patch)
  2. Baltimore County Council candidate Pat Young, who was born and raised in Catonsville, is having a casual meet and greet to enable residents to get to know him, hear his vision for the county, and ask him questions. The meet and greet will be on Thursday, Jun. 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 121 Forest Drive in Catonsville. (Catonsville Patch)
