Paid firefighters return to Berwyn Heights (streetcarsuburbs.news) — Paid firefighters and EMTs are back on daytime shifts at the Berwyn Heights fire station, restoring a key source of backup for College Park’s two fire companies. City officials say the added staffing should reduce volunteer burnout, improve daytime coverage, and strengthen emergency response for College Park and the nearby University of Maryland.
   

2. Council pauses membership in association for local cities (streetcarsuburbs.news) — College Park’s city council has temporarily halted its membership in the Prince George’s County Municipal Association after an alleged embezzlement of more than $30,000, saying they must protect local tax dollars. City leaders acknowledge the group’s value but want stronger financial safeguards, clearer transparency, and new oversight measures in place before reconsidering membership.
   

3. College Park Moose Lodge finds new home (streetcarsuburbs.news) — College Park’s Moose Lodge #453 has bought a new home at 8907 Baltimore Ave., keeping the fraternal organization in the city after 77 years. Members expect more space for social activities but say renovations and a move from their Metzerott Road location will take several months, with their current lease running through June 30.
   

4. Malik Washington Confirms Commitment To Maryland Football (umterps.com) — From College Park, standout freshman quarterback Malik Washington has confirmed he’s staying with the Maryland Terrapins, giving local fans another season to watch him develop. After a record-setting first year and multiple conference honors, both Washington and Coach Michael Locksley say they’re committed to building something long-term that excites the College Park and regional community.
