Wiggins Scores 13 Points In NBA Debut
The former Terrapin took reps during Sunday's game against Detroit in the NBA Summer League.

College Park, MD — Just 10 days after being drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder, former Maryland Terrapin guard Aaron Wiggins suited up for his first game on Sunday night.
Wiggins, along with rookies Josh Giddey, Tre Mann and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and returners like Theo Maledon and Josh Hall, beat the Detroit Pistons 76-72 in OKC’s first game of the Las Vegas Summer League.
Wiggins scored 13 points, had one assist, three steals and five rebounds during his 23 minutes of playtime. He went 0-2 in three-point shots and 6-11 overall.

Wiggins' former Terrapin teammate Jalen Smith, a second-year power forward for the Phoenix Suns, will also be competing in the Summer League. The Suns faced the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday and, despite leading nearly the entire second half, lost 73-72.
Smith finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and an assist. He is not scheduled to play against Wiggins during the Summer League.

Terp fans can watch Wiggins again on Wednesday as the Thunder take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 6 p.m. on NBA TV. They’ll play the Golden State Warriors at 6 p.m. on Friday on ESPN2 before facing the Indiana Pacers on Saturday at 5 p.m on ESPN2.
The Summer League is back after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All 30 teams are participating, The Athletic’s Shams Charania Tweeted in the spring.
The summer league is an opportunity for rookies and young players to showcase their skills.
