$50K Winning Powerball Ticket Celebrated By Columbia Man

A Howard County resident has won $50K on a Powerball ticket that forgot to check until weeks later.

COLUMBIA, MD — A Columbia man who finally got around to checking his Powerball numbers from the Aug. 26 drawing realized in September that he had a winning ticket.

At first, the Howard County resident thought he had won just a few hundred dollars. He didn't realize his ticket was worth $50,000.

“I must have looked at it wrong,” said the 53-year-old. “I thought I had two to three numbers.”

The winning numbers for the Aug. 26 drawing were 20, 22, 26, 28 and 63; the Powerball was 5. The Howard County man matched four out of the five winning numbers along with the Powerball, which was good for a third-tier prize.

The information technology worker said he plans to place his prize into a savings account. The Powerball player purchased his lucky ticket in Catonsville at Royal Farms #374 located at 6430 Baltimore National Pike.
