$50K Winning Ticket Claimed By Longtime Lottery Player From Jessup

A Jessup man has been playing the lottery since 1973. He recently claimed a $50K winning scratch-off lottery ticket.

JESSUP, MD — A Jessup man plunked down $30 to play the Cash is King game and ended up winning $50,000.

The Howard County resident told Maryland Lottery officials that he gets a kick out of playing scratch-off tickets to see if he's won. He started playing the lottery in Maryland back when it launched in 1973.

The Jessup man bought the winning ticket at U.S. 1 Liquors at 8167 Washington Boulevard in Jessup, which will receive a percentage of the portions for selling the winning ticket. The Jessup player claimed the last of six second-tier $50,000 prizes on the Cash is King game. The top prize on the game, which made its debut on Sept. 19, 2022, is $2 million, and a single prize at that level remains unclaimed.
