Apartment Fire Linked To Appliance, 2 Residents Displaced
Two residents have been displaced after officials say a fire broke out at an apartment in Columbia Sunday.

COLUMBIA, MD — An apartment caught on fire Sunday, sparked by what officials believe was an appliance.
Firefighters were called to the apartment located in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road around 12:19 p.m. Nov. 16. Crews found the appliance on fire in a first-floor apartment. It took firefighters approximately four minutes to gain control of the fire, officials reported.
Ground ladders were used to help several residents evacuate the building. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. However, two residents were displaced because of the fire and the Red Cross has been notified to provide assistance, the fire department stated.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
