Couple Surprised When They Propose To Each Other At Merriweather Post Pavilion Concert
The couple aimed to surprise their partner with a marriage proposal. Both popped the question at the same time at a concert in Columbia.
COLUMBIA, MD — A Maryland couple had planned on making a life together since they first kissed at a Modest Mouse concert in Baltimore 2.5 years ago. Rachel Hundertmark and Rashad Polk — unbeknownst to each other — planned to pop the question in June when they again saw Modest Mouse, this time at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Hundertmark, 36, and Polk, 41, met in 2019 during a work project, and reconnected in April 2022 after the pandemic when they were attending Baltimore City Community College. Hundertmark secretly hatched a plan to buy a ring and propose to her boyfriend, The Washington Post reported. However, Polk had decided he would propose to his girlfriend at the same concert. Both brought rings with them to the concert to cap their proposals.
“I was absolutely shocked,” Polk said. “We both forgot to say ‘yes’ — we just hugged each other and cried, we were so happy.”
